This is being written largely because of the apathetic response to the latest crime by the Bush administration, that being overriding posse comitatus and the institution of martial law by the President, as well as the commandeering of a state's national guard to the same end. But it's also just a build up of frustration after reading probably too many posts in L and P. Before I get started, I have to throw out a disclaimer and say that if I'm not referring to you, than I am not speaking to you either. I try and direct my attacks specifically at the people they are meant for, but like a bomb from a fighter plane, I can't guarantee they will stay on target. So to anyone who is unjustly offended, I apologize.

What is the point of such a post? To vent, to make a point, hopefully, and maybe just maybe there is at least one person on this board who agrees with me.

Before we get started:

One line really is too much to waste one such folks, but for the sake of being thorough, everyone who responds with "that's just crap" or "You're full of it," or my personal favorite, a cartoon vomiting, you really give yourselves away. It's as if to say, "I have nothing factual to counter what you are saying. I am limited by my mental capacity or lack of contrary evidence to dispute what you say, so I am left with trying to ridicule you or discount your message out of hand. It's the same crowd that comes off with the old chestnut, "If you don't like it, just leave." Why should I have to go? I want things the way our founding fathers intended. Why don't the fascist dictators have to go instead? Well, here's to you guys. :barf:

Honestly, I am tired with the whole thing, and I'm done putting up with it. With what, you say?

I am tired of people who confuse blind loyalty with patriotism. People who don't care if it's right or wrong, who just want to be on the winning side, or at least the side they think everyone else is on. People who are afraid to risk being outcast as one who disagrees. I am tired of compensating for your weakness.

I'm tired of people who cling to stereotypes that haven't been true for decades--people who think the media is liberal even though it's a propaganda machine controlled by big business (i.e. government), people who accuse the libs of wanting to turn this country into a communist republic, when all of the major moves in that direction: national i.d., destruction of the bill of rights, gun confiscations, the neutering of the supreme court, illegal wiretaps, and now the abolishment of yet another constitutional protection allowing the president to institute martial law and turn the country into a police state, are all taking place on the republican's watch.

I'm tired of people who still believe we invaded Iraq for a legitimate reason involving national security. Hey, guys? Even our own government, you know, the ones who made the whole thing up to begin with? Even they have admitted to the "mistake." So it's safe for you to do the same. No WMDs. Say it with me. Links to terrorism. Nope. Sorry. If that were the basis for invasion, we should be invading a lot of countries, beginning with Saudi Arabia, but not true and corroborated once again. So why do the Bush apologists insist on defending this nationwide hoodwink of the gullible? Unable to admit you were fooled? Or that you were wrong? Well, not my problem. Deal with it.

I am done tolerating those with no tolerance. There are some who suggest death to anyone who disagrees with the party line. Anyone who goes against what they've been spoon-fed by the media and the whitehouse. It's as if anyone who is against the government and what they are doing is not patriotic and deserves some kind of punishment. Those who state the truth are many times ostracized by the blind loyalists, or the programmed or whatever you might call them. In fact, it is only those who point out the mistakes and the erosion of our freedoms that are true patriots. Why should I have to make excuses or put up with any of YOU? I won't. Not anymore. Because it's closed-minded, inconsiderate people like yourselves that are making it possible for the government to take our freedom for good. All of it. In the old days, the fascist supporters like yourselves were beaten, tarred, feathered and hung.

This country was founded by a bunch of guys who disagreed with the current system, and sought to change it. If they had been followers, we would all be singing "God Save the Queen." It's those men who cautioned us to question our government, and limit its powers, otherwise it would become too large and oppressive to be stopped. Are we there yet? It's just about there, wouldn't you say?

Most of all, I've had it with those "stay the course" frogs in the proverbial pot who think that losing all of their constitutional protections one at a time is just fine and dandy, and don't worry about it, and I have nothing to hide, and it's necessary to protect us from "whomever" and they would never spy on their own citizens, and of course they created this latest crime, at the eleventh hour, attached to a rider just before it went up for a vote so no one could examine and argue it, yes they did all of this for a law they will never invoke. Well, bull ****.

And if I seem angry it's because I am. It's because those that sit idly by and let it happen, those that don't get angry, those frogs sitting oblivious in the pot are creating their own future with their passivity, but they are creating mine too. Because I can't change anything permanently by myself. Someone else has to give a damn. And I don't care about being right. Especially in this case. Because if I am right, the time for me to say "I told you so" is when some tactical ahole is outside my door with his military buddies ready to take my weapons or me away. And the satisfaction of being right just isn't good enough to make up for my life and those of my children being altered forever.

What does it take? Where is the line with any of you? Or has the yoke gotten too heavy already? Have you already been pacified? I am amazed yet not, that there isn't a national outcry for impeachment. Again, what does it take?

Lying to the American people? Check.
Invading a country under false pretenses? Check.
Violation of the constitution? Check, check, check.
Tyrannical behavior? You bet.
Erasure of constitutional protections through unlawful searches and seizures, wiretapping, invasion of privacy, and overriding posse comitatus. Yep.

You know, the revolutionary war, the one that created America, was kicked off by 2 things: taxation without representation and an attempted arms seizure. We've gone far beyond that. So tell me, where is the line for YOU? Or has it been erased altogether?

You put a lot of time into that screed, so I guess it deserves a better response than just that little yawn. I have one question and one comment to start out with.

Please explain these accusations. Specifically, I would like to have evidence of each as they are being committed right now. Can you provide this evidence?

Careful there, I think you just puked on yourself.

That is correct, suspension of posse comitatus is bad law. Yeah GW is doing it for the security of the country. Then along comes another prex. that decides it might be useful to "control" the people for their further "security".

The war we find ourselves in over in the middle east is of our own design.
We must fight the radical Islamic terrorists wether we like it or not, unless you want to fight them here. In my life time there may be a Euro-Arabia.
Interdependence between nations has led us away from independence in our country. When a president declares himself ruler, the people will do what must be done. Till that day we are all Americans and will vote to change the system. The vote is a way to revolution. Rebellion is not the way to solve problems, unless it is a last resort. We all have legal recourse. When there is no recourse, the people will respond. The spirit of America is alive. Know that we are a sleeping giant.

OK here is a real response

people who think the media is liberal even though it's a propaganda machine controlled by big business (i.e. government), .... national i.d., destruction of the bill of rights, gun confiscations, the neutering of the supreme court, illegal wiretaps, and now the abolishment of yet another constitutional protection allowing the president to institute martial law and turn the country into a police state, are all taking place on the republican's watch.

Agreed

I'm tired of people who still believe we invaded Iraq for a legitimate reason involving national security. Hey, guys? Don't trust the government.....wait!! believe what they say if it is what you agree with....
Neither you or me know for a fact if indeed they had WMD's, links to terrorism, etc... I don't believe anyone can argue this with any validity.

Do you have access to secret and classified documents pertaining to this? Do you get your info from the gov't? the media? some wacko typing his own blog, claiming to be unbiased, passing it off as news and fact?

It's as if anyone who is against the government and what they are doing is not patriotic and deserves some kind of punishment.

In a word? Yes.
Disagree with some things..sure no problem.
Bring up the wrongdoings of the government? Heck yes, we need people to do that. Checks and balances I believe its called (also it is a form of patriotism if you ask me....)

Chanting "DOWN WITH THE .GOV!!!!" while rallying troops to attack the Whitehouse?
Try voting first. Someone else said it best....."Last Resort"

Agree yet disagree...Lemme' asplain:
Losing the Constitution.....VERY BAD (to put it simply)
Iraq: Yes, we started it we should finish it. I think it should have been finished a while ago though. Bad planning and excecution all the way. We should have handed Iraq over a year or two ago.

Be angry. Good for you.
I'll give you a hint, You aren't going to change anything here. "This is the internet, It's not real"
Start with local politics, get involved. Move up to state. You need exposure. People need to see your face....
And thats just the beginning.

Yep.

Umm..I think every President since I have been alive has done most, if not all, of those

You know, the revolutionary war, the one that created America, was kicked off by 2 things: taxation without representation and an attempted arms seizure. We've gone far beyond that. So tell me, where is the line for YOU? Or has it been erased altogether?

I wasn't there, but I am pretty sure it was more than those two things.....

It took from 1620(ish) to 1776 to declare independance from someone who wasn't even on the same continent.......

"the institution of martial law by the President"

No kidding. He abolished all civil authority? I'm telling you, I promise I'll look into it tonight as soon as I finish watching the election returns.

;)
