One post on the Handgun forum mentioned that S&W now using a $50 rebate to those buying their new guns. First that I've heard of this. Anyone able to confirm S&W having to bite this bullet to get sales with the massive buyer boycott working?

it is true. S&W also had $50 rebates earlier this year when I bought my m696 .44 spl (pre-agreement). its an in store rebate on merchandise, ammo...

Soooo ... can you use that $50 credit to buy full capacity mags ... ? ;)

Sorry, couldn't resist. ;) I won't do it again.

Well ... maybe not tonight. ;)

Smith & Wesson must die.

Regards from AZ

Consarn it, I was hoping the rebate was because they were in a corner and starting to get desperate. Does anyone know the extent of the boycott, or if it's having any effect?

IIRC S&W had a half dozen major distributors like Lew Horton, whom I heard was going to return the stock it had on hand after they found out about the sellout. Are the distributors hanging tough?

I'd like to know if this is going to be a prolonged cold war, or if it'll be S&W's version of Custer's last stand. I hope it's the latter so that it'll stiffen the spine of Colt and Ruger.

I wouldn't buy an S&W for $49.95 even if came with a $50 kickback! It'd still cost me 5 cents and that is too high a price to pay those treasonous &^%$#@!

Like posted above, S&W must die!

That's ESAD! They must eat S**T first! It's sad because they have made fine products. My wife almost selected one before she wrapped her little hands around a Browning Silver Chrome in .40, after that nothing was good enough for her. This happened pre agreement and I am glad she found the Browning.
