against better advice, I now own a NM SAI M1A with walnut bedded stock and stainless.

report to follow after I complete Jim Owens' break-in method. Yes I am an idiot and did not buy used.

Also am thinking about stiching up a cotton bag outta an old shot bag and making a weight- AKA lead bean bag - for the cleaning kit area. More mass and better balance. It's only dead weight anyway!

I think ya did fine !!!

I'm an M1A shooter myself. This past year was my first serious season at service rifle comp, had a great time. The rifle is at the armorer now getting the full NM treatment. Looking forward to this year.

You might consider a couple pieces of 1/2" copper pipe cut to length and capped then melt the lead into them. Added right at 2lb to mine..
