Hadn't seen it in the back of the safe for a year or two, so I brought it out of hiding... ;)

Hard to tell, exactly, but it appears to be a standard 4" Model 19, Hogue monogrips, I think I see a pin, so it would be pre-1983, meaning that the chambers are also recessed.

Either a fair amount of wear, or just some light shine.

Doesn't appear to have a red ramp, so it wouldn't have a white outline.

Picture's too dark to tell the location of the gas ring, but I'm going to hazard a guess that it's a 19-3 or a 19-4.

It's a fairly early 19.

Here's the story.

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (game wardens, etc), after the events of the April 23, 1987 Palm Bay Florida shooting, switched to wundernines. Their now-obsolete Model 19's went up for sale, but only to DNR employees. My mom, a state park administrator, snagged three of them, because they were being sold for $100.00 each. Papa Bear, Momma Bear, and Baby Bear each had their own Model 19's in excellent condition, save for a little holster wear (near the muzzle, that's the scanner light on the trigger guard). After shooting a box or two of full house 125gr .357 Magnums, I went with the Hogue Monogrip on mine.

Hindsight being 20-20, we should've bought more of those $100 Model 19's...;)
