Someone made me

I was carrying today. G27 IWB crossbreed supertuck and someone made it. I had a sweatshirt on and everything. I was going to a Starbucks to pick up a couple pounds of espresso beans and I ended up next to a different than usual store. i walked in about 3 steps, though 'Oh ****, I didn't check for the no firearms sign,' turned around and looked for a sticker by the door. I don't think most people would hae noticed this, but I don't really try to hide that I am carrying all that much since open/printing is legal. I didn't see one so I turned back around and there was a guy staring at my hip bulge. My gun was still covered. He didn't freak out or anything, but he obviously knew and had a very surprised look on his face. We made eye contact and he looked away like nothing happened. He less than surreptitiously kept an eye on me.

Any other time this has happened I have been open carrying and whoever notices assumes I am a LEO or something and doesn't look twice. I have a scraggly beard atm and usually don't and if he noticed me looking for a sign he would know i wasn't a LEO,

Maybe he also had a CHL and was surprised two guys with CHLs would be in a Starbucks at the same time. I was a little surprised when i realized he very likely had a CHL and was in Starbucks.

Sounds to me like you're just feeling a bit paranoid. If you had a small glock IWB with a sweatshirt I dont even think there would be any bulge, and if you ever get bored and people watch, most people generally look at someone "new" walking around. I've carried a Glock 17 OWB in a CQC Blackhawk holster under a very tight fitting jacket and there was clearly a gun shaped bulge and no one every glanced at it. I've open carried and to be honest it doesn't seem like the average person is observant enough to even notice it most of the times. Or like you said they probably just think your some type of LEO.

I have carried a good bit. I have NEVER, not even the first time I carried, thought anyone noticed when I had the pistol covered and most don't notice even when it is not covered.
All said and done, the G27 + holster adds about 2 inches to my right hip. If you are looking for it it is pretty obvious I have something on my hip or or some sort of defect. I have sometimes wondered if people think it is a catheter bag or something.
If he saw me turn around and look for the sign, thought I was looking for one, and then looked at me searching for agun I think he could have figured it out pretty easily.

I got made recently, and I changed my carry setup as a result.

They didn't spot my gun, they spotted my ammo.

I've been carrying crossdraw of late (at least during the Tucson winter) with concealment via jacket. That works great. What failed was the 12rd belt slide thing I had just to the right of small-of-back.

I was in a grocery store doing the self-check thing. The machine was screwing up. I asked the one "guardian clerk" I guess you call him if this happened a lot, with a chuckle. He said "yeah, we hate those things". I kept going, it nagged at me to "please put items in the bagging area" when I did...so I flipped the machine the bird while making it obvious I was kidding around. The clerk laughed and said "why don't you just shoot it" :D.

I said "no, that's not what it's there for"...we had a brief nice conversation about CCW, I explained I'm legal, etc.

But, flashing ammo while bending over for groceries wasn't gonna work.

So, I decided to move the ammo "up higher" so that if my jacket rode up, it wouldn't expose rounds.

My first attempt was only mediocre:

This is a "plate" of thick leather called "Latigo" by Tandy Leather at least, out of their scrap pile at $6/lb, with add-ons by me. The bullet holders are from the belt slide I was dissatisfied with. This setup was "OK" but it was too tall. Bending over it would "poke out", making a weirdly-placed bulge in my jacket. Since I had some more of that scrap, I redid the concept and the "ver.2.0" worked very well:

I use this daily, although technically it's now "ver.2.1" - I added another carrier for a Swiss army knife alongside the multi-pliers. If my jacket rides up on this, no sweat, all they see is flashlight, tools, SAK and a yin-yang :). Access to the ammo is also much faster with this angled holder.

I don't really care. I open carry with a clip on kydex, crossdraw a kahr T9, both without any sort of cover garment. I regularly carry this without a cover garment so the butt and rear sight are clearly visible. Legal in Ohio and I am not to worried about anyone thinking poorly of it.

Yes, I saw that a few days ago. I was thinking about trying a different brand of Espresso beans but passed when I saw the post. I wasn't sure if it is state by state or franchise by franchise though. I always check when I am going in a new location.

last thing I need is a felony b/c the store manager put up a sticker without passing it through corporate first.

AK,that was funny.

Good to have a laugh now and then.

JW,you did'nt purposely mean to do it. and no harm came from it,no big deal.

Funny how acting like adults does that.
