Someone handed my some 10MM rounds - Norma

I had a friend bring me a couple boxes of 10MM ammo because he had heard I had one. Norma 170 grain - advertised velocity 1300FPS on box. Handwritten price on box $16.95 (20).

I think I will save these to shoot one day when he is over.

170 gr at 1300 fps is extremely close to one of the original Norma cartridges as developed for the FBI's Bren Ten I believe.

Would make a great stopper at short ranges. I believe this is what the Scandinavians carry in their G20s for polar bear defense when on patrol in the arctic.

I think I'd save them for proof of their existence. I'd buy a box from you just to have to smile at in quiet admiration.

I bought two boxes of Norma 200gr, mostly for nostalgia, but decided to shoot one box through my Delta Elite to see what "real" 10mm is like.
Apparently, Norma, like just about everyone else, reduced the power of their 10mm loads in the '90s, though they didn't change the ballistic info on the box.
I read somewhere that older ammo will have a letter stamped on the primer, and the watered-down ammo will have a blank primer.
My blank-primer rounds were distinctly not full power, with only one of the twenty exceeding 1000fps.
