Why is it that every picture of Algore with a gun has him breaking the basic rules of gun safety?????

I assume you've seen the picture of him resting his head on the muzzle of an M-16 in "Vietnam" (apparently the picture was really taken stateside).

Al Gore: "And NO MORE "is that your final answer bull*$(&#)(!"

Regis: "Ok, Al, is that your final threat?"

Those who use arms well cultivate the Way and keep the rules. Thus they can govern in such a way as to prevail over the corrupt- Sun Tzu, The Art of War

I watched this particular program and Al Gore was using his finger, no gun. he was drawing circles around regis's head trying to hypnotise him.Nice cut and paste job none the less.

...“ They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.” --Benjamin Franklin, Historical Review of Pennsylvania, 1759.

Whereas, to preserve liberty, it is essential that the whole body of the people always possess arms, and be taught alike, especially when young, how to use them; nor does it follow from this, that all promiscuously must go into actual service on every occasion. The mind that aims at a select militia, must be influenced by a truly anti-republican principle; and when we see many men disposed to practice upon it, whenever they can prevail, no wonder true republicans are for carefully guarding against it.

As a computer graphics student, I can almost guarantee you that the image is composited. Look closely at the pistol, the lighting on it is much to flat, the shadows don't match the studio set's lighting. Plus, the surface of the pistol is not affecting light in the way that it should, ie, if that was a chrome-plated revolver, the light play on it would be entirely different. The driop-shadow on Regis' face isn't too bad, but then again, something like that is easy to fake. However, the shadow should be much more diffuse, it shouldn't be so obvious, stages for television use a large number of overhead lights, which generally makes it very difficult to make out shadows.
This is an admirable attempt, but it is still a fake.

So it's a fake. ... Nuts!
I was hoping to get rid of *both* of 'em. (sigh!)

Damn! I had thought it was fake, but the shadow on Regis' face had almost convinced me otherwise. But then again, I wasn't about to use my precioius CS talent to figure it out for myself when I knew somebody else would tear it apart.

Thanks!
