I just want to hear from experience about this rifle. I really like the FN FAL type rifle for .308 and this one is nice with a 11" barrel.

With a barrel that short you'll need a gas port the size of the Holland tunnel. You'll also discover the front sight post barely exists to bring the short barrel to POA.
Muzzle blast & flash will probably be really obnoxious unless you handload special rounds as well.

I've got the SA58 with the 18.5" barrel. I don't think I'd go below that length with a .308. What's the point? To me 11 inch barrels are for military, interior work with .223 or pistol caliber carbines and I wouldn't want to be using a .308 inside four walls -- the sound and muzzle flash would render it pretty impractical.

As for the DSA SA58 generally, DSA is probably the best manufacturer of the FAL design out there today, and the FAL design is well tested, reliable and easy to clean compared to alternative .308/7.62 battle rifles. It is reasonably accurate however I wouldn't call it a hunting or range rifle. It has a purpose but I don't think room clearing was what they had in mind.

Like the others have said, the 11 inch barrel doesn't make to much sense for the round the rifle fires. Anything under 18 doesn't do the round justice. That being said, there is a cool factor there. If that is what you are going for, I guess that's OK.

I have one with the 21 inch barrel and I love it. Pretty accurate and fun to shoot.

Thanks for the responses I was wondering how the barrel would be. I like the FN FAL type rifile like the Paratrooper model just the DSA SA58 caught my eye more. I will defintley be looking into them with longer barrels. Thanks.

Having messed with lots of differently configured FALs my preferences are the fixed stock 21" BBL as a full rifle, or an 18" Para for a whupazz carbine.
Balance is as important (if not more so) than just barrel length, & these 2 versions just feel "right" to me at least:cool:.

Also look closely at the muzzle device, the length differences make at least as big a difference as actual barrel length.

Have 2 DSA's, a SA58 16 incher (including muzzle break), and a 18 in STG para. like em both, and no problems so far. A 308 does not lose all that much going to 16", but 11 inch would seem a tad short unless you were in serious need of a rifle that short. The 16 inch carbine owned gets 2600 fps from mil surplus, while a 16 socom chronoed got about 2540 fps.

Am liking/appreciative of the shorter 308's, especially the balance and power. Yes, they are loud.

An 11in SA58 is made for storage/ handling in tight places...bodyguard work, aircrew personal weapons, armored vehicle crews etc... Those that have need of a heavy hitting weapon with penetration, but dont have room for a longer or more cumbersome version. The trade off
Is increased blast/ flash over the full size models. The same applies to 5.56 guns as well, a 10.5 inch Colt Commando is nothing short of rude lol and will drownd out the guy shooting a full size Fal, or M14 next to him( picture .300 win mag full auto) 11in 7.62NATO guns are worse! Cool factor is high, but ear plugs WITH muffs is the normal way to shoot it.
Aside from the SBR tax stamp required on the 11", the 16" and longer is just more practical for most uses. I've owned a FN 50.63 para, and 50.00 full size metric, and two L1A1 inch pattern over the years.
Probley the best comprimise is a 21"
Folder like a lot of countries used.

I have the 21 in standard rifle. It's fun as hell, smooth and accurate, but heavy and expensive to feed. I bought it back when FAL mags were cheap and abundant. Personally, a 16 in barrel would be the shortest I would want.

Cool. Yea I was going to say the DSA's barrel is too short. I rather get the FN FAL 16" Paratrooper. That would be a nice rifle.
