Somebody has to know

I live in California. Just bought my BF a .41 magnum off of gunbroker, only to forget that it has to be on the CA approved list. How do I know if its a 657-5 or better, it has the same item number as the one on the S&W website. The seller has not written me back.

The only way to know for sure is for the seller to tell you. If you have the serial number you can get fairly close, but even then they can be off a few years which could mean a different dash number.

I am sorry to add this here BUT

You mean to tell me that there is a Calaforina aproved gun list and a 41 mag just might not be on it?????
Are you kidding?
This is one more reasion I am glad I dont live in CA.
Its a wonderful state, I am sure, and the people are great, but there are just a few nuts making laws that should be taken out and hung on the highest tree.
I live in Indiana and we dont have hollywood or sun and fun, but we sure are free compaired to CA.
You have my sorrow. :(

But I'll Take the 657

Sorry for your trouble, but thanks for the great post that enlightens us all about what the liberals have in mind for the rest of the country!

If all else fails, I'm sure someone on the forum would be happy to buy that 657 from you. I know I would. And by the way, how does a person find a girlfriend who will buy him a 657? Congrats to your BF on that wonderful luck!

Thanks, there is a 41 mag on the list, it just has to have that little internal safety lock thing everyone hates and no one uses.

I'm still waiting for the response, so hopefully its ok.

And he's doubly lucky, because I used by ported .357 money to buy him this as a gift. So, guess its back to putting dollars in my gun munny jar again.

But on the brightside - HE'S VERY EXCITED.

Not sure about the 657 but for some SW revolvers, open the cylinder and look at the frame once hidden by the cylinder.
