Some suggestions?

I want a rifle for long-distance target shooting. I don't need the gun with the longest range, just a practical, moderately lightweight, moderately priced, first long-range gun. What do people suggest? I live in CA so keep that in mind. Thanks.

Either a .270 or a .308----the .308 should be lighter since its a short action caliber-----the .270 will shoot farther----as for rifles, go down to the shop and see what suits you best as to price --looks---etc.

I heartily endorse Savage bolt-action rifles in .308 or .270 for this purpose.
