Some questions about my Keltec p32

Hey everyone,

I had bought a Keltec p32 about a week and a half ago and finally got to take it to the range on Monday. I have a few questions for some people who have had a little more experience with this pistol. Here is what happened:
- first of all, the pistol shoots really nice, and really straight. But after about 60 rounds, the pistol started having failures to extract. (Note, up until that point, there was not a single ftf or fte) It seemed like it worsened the dirtier the gun got. Like it was getting too sticky in the breech face of the barrel for the extractor to do it's job.
The question is, I understand the purpose of this gun, that it is not designed to go through hundreds of rounds at a time like my Ruger is. But, I have also heard of people who were able to put 350+ rounds through with not a single ftf's or fte's.
- I'm picking up some 400# and 600# sandpaper tonight and I'm going to do the "illustrated" fluff and buff described on the keltec owners group website. Although I don't have a Dremel tool, but the description says that the Dremel tool is not 100% necessary.

- Do I have a problem, or am I expecting this thing to go beyond it's original design (which I am assuming, is reliably put 7-8 rounds of bullets in Mr. Bad Guy)?

thanks!

I had that happen once when my gun started getting dirty. I don't know if this helped it but I did go back & do the part of the F&B on the chamber where you wrap a bit of the sandpaper around the end of a pencil and smoothed it out a little. Never happened again.
Be sure that you lightly grease the slide rails and hammer slide interface & oil elsewhere, can make a difference.

See the illustrated guide to lubrication:

There can be a very big difference in how clean ammo leaves your gun. I'd suggest you try another brand of ammo before fretting too much.

Sorry,
forgot to mention that I had two boxes of ammo - One was Winchester 71gr fmj and one was UMC 71gr fmj. It hiccuped on both brands (fwiw)

Fluff and Buff

Remember a little goes a long way. Don't alter the place where the barrel and the "bushing" come together if you like the way your gun shoots now. All you are doing is smoothing the surface and buffing them, not resurfacing. Remember, you can always come back and do more buffing. The procedure should make your gun 100%. It did mine.

If you haven't had the hard chromed slide, you should do it before the f&b.

there you guys go making sense and all. :-)

Maybe I'll send my slide out tomorrow for the chroming and then do the fluff and buff afterwards.

I'll keep you posted

I liked my P-32 hard chromed slide model that I bought a very very slightly used blued P-40, shot it to make sure that it was reliable. I then sent it back to Keltech and had the slide and barrel hardcromed, for 20 bucks, what a deal. I also had night sights added for 80 bucks. This 10 shot .40 cal, is now my off duty gun of choice, with 10 rounds of .40 cal in a pistol that will fit comfortably in the front pocket of a pair of jeans.
