In all of these negativities there are some pleasantries to report.
A couple of weeks ago I posted a thread about guns and vaginas. This was about a professor at a university that has been under the gun for his remarks in response to an anti-gun woman that her possession of certain equipment does not ensure its abuse.
I wrote the local paper, the Daily Oklahoman and was printed on Saturday, March 4. Last week, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the editor had sent me a copy of the editorial page with my letter. It cost them $.44 and I thought it was damned nice of them.
The next pleasantry was when I called the Saturday Evening Post to subscribe as a monetary "thank you" for their fair article on the firearms issue in the February issue. I told the girl that took my order that I wanted her to explicitly tell her supervisor that I was a member of the NRA and that my order was in response to the article.
I received a copy of the February issue the other day and I do not believe that my subscription was to start in February. If they back dated it, so much the better. I don't mind. I would rather have the issue that contained the article. It also contained ads from the NRA (full page), S&W (1/2 page), and Browning (full page).
It is nice to know that these people are out there and doing others a kindness.

Gun Control: The proposition that a woman found dead in an alley, raped and strangled with her own panty hose, is more acceptable than allowing that same woman to defend herself with a firearm.
