From an article on the front page of this mornings USA Today. The Hazards of Doing it Yourself.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission reported the following statistics from 1998 the last year for complete data.
157,129 Ladder related injuries
98,707 Saw (hand and power) injuries
42,426 Hammer related injuries
10,031 Self inflicted Screwdriver injuries
Also to note:
597,000 Bicycle related injuries
And get this 438,000 were treated for Bed related accidents :confused:

And to think they have the nerve to say Guns are dangerous :rolleyes:
I think we all better get hold of our elected employees and see what can be done about these dangerous items :eek:

This sounds serious! I propose the formation of the following:
L.C.I. (Ladder Control, Inc.)
S.C.I. (Saw Control, Inc.)
H.C.I. (Hammer Control, Inc.)
S.C.I. (Screwdriver Control, Inc.)
B.C.I. (Bicycle Control, Inc.)
We must register all ladders, saws, hammers, screwdrivers, and bicycles. Of particular concern should be people who own MULTIPLE saws, hammers, ladders, etc. What do they need them for? Their only purpose is to lure someone into using them so they will hurt themselves! TAKE TOOLS OFF THE STREETS! DO IT FOR THE CHILDREN! Someone call Rosie!

In keeping with your suggestion, here is what I think each organization should make their first priority.

LCI - We need to have Ladder Locks to keep unauthorized users from opening up step ladders or extending extention ladders.

SCI - I would propose a one saw per month limit.

HCI - We must do something about nail guns. After all, these are really assult hammers. Anyone who has "Lethal Weapon 2" knows how dangerous these things can be.

SCI - These long screwdrivers are sniper screwdrivers only used by experts who want to work their evil from distances that ordinarily would not be possible, and the little pocket ones are usually "Saturday Morning Specials" used by Tim Allen wanna-be's.

BCI - We need to get rid of all of these 18 and 21 speed bicycles. After all, except for the police and the military, who needs more than 10 speeds.

Check Rigby's post, Gun Owners are Liars. I believe there could be some bed accidents in the making :eek: Maybe we should call :confused: Gee who should we call? We gotta stop these bed accidents or our mattresses will be confiscated :eek:
