Some dyed-in-the-wool gun bigot fantasies...

I stopped in on this board from a refering post and was blown away by some of the posts there.

Here's a sample:

quote:
Dr. Bart,

You make me feel so warm inside to be willing to voice your mind in a room of such harsh rebukes. These people simply can not accept the fact that they are responsible for death and destruction of our culture. They can't accept the fact that guns=crime, no matter how many proffesors say otherwise.

Dr. Bart perhaps someday we can meet and enjoy a wonderful time after the demise of the gun culture. As the men here rest in eternity or in jail we can once again be free from crime and not forced to worry about whom we meet. Even with your strong anti-gun views I still would fear meeting you, because in the current enviroment you could be a gun owner trying to seduce me so that you could murder me. I don't put anything past the gun-nuts anymore.

Have you ever met a bunch of lunatics like this outside of gun nuts? I never have, as I venture out to my job as an exotic dancer I meet some strange people, but I feel so safe knowing that at the door hangs a sign banning firearms inside. Why is it in a world of insanity we allow it to all come from one group of people. Why can't we simply jail or execute this scum and carry on as a fruitful, loving, safe nation?

To better times and making love not war,

Cindy "Destiny" Caswell

John--I'll give you 2-to-1 that's a tongue-in-cheek post. That's a gun owner messing with his head. Honestly, read it again, looking for the signs this time. I think you'll see what I mean.

See, the world's not as crazy as you thought--but just slightly.....

Duh? Doesn't anyone remember the name "Cindy Caswell"? "Excotic dancer" not ringing any bells either? Time for a re-read of UC!

Hell yes she's a pro-gun posing as an anti!

As a matter of fact, I visited this site before reading this thread and am convinced that an *easy* 85% of posters there ARE pro-gun posers, not recognizing each other as such, and working themselves into a frothing frenzy trying to out-pose each other.... it's like watching a ridiculous cartoon or something.

John: You are an exception to the above. Your posts there are so good I considered emailing you a compliment.
(If there are any real anti's there) you are striking some gentle but very effective blows.

BINGO Jordan!
"Cindy Caswell" friend of Henry Bowman!

Man....I need to wake up and smell the coffee before I read these posts. :o

I suppose I have to admit it--I've never read Unintended Consequences. I just thought it looked pretty coincidental that all the same stuff we joke about as stereotypical anti behavior came together that way in one person.

By the way, am I the only one who thinks that Unintended Consequences would be much more widely read if not for the soft-core porno on the cover? What the Hell is the point of that picture? I saw a copy at a gun show and was insulted that this is considered the way to draw in gun owners. I still intend to read it, but that particular time, I was embarassed to pick it up. There's a place for smut and I'm no prude (Hell, I LIKE smut) but it isn't on the cover of a book purporting to be a serious discussion of the future of America.

UC isn't great writing and the cover ended up in the trash stat...but it is a good start. I keep my copy, though I tend to hand it to beople and say: "here, read this chapter, then we can talk."

Well, if a stripper named Destiny says the professors are full of it, it must be true.

Yup, she's a poser. Um, if you know what I mean ;)

Smut? Porn? WTF, Over!

Lady Liberty (you know, the nekked chick on the courthoust) is being assaulted by an armed thug while the DofI is burning in the background, and you guys call that porn?

I'm with Coinneach. I thought the cover of "U.C." was as appropriate as it gets! Lady Liberty is being raped daily, incessantly, by the politicians and bureaucrats!!

My problem with "U.C." was that it was so highly technical re guns and airplanes, that unless the reader is hard core "gun culture," and a long time pilot, he/she probably won't wade through most of it, but will stick it up in the book case without finishing it. I'm a member of the "gun culture" and have done some flying, but several people I asked to read it, weren't and hadn't and didn't finish it. I advised them to skip "xyz" and then they finished.

But Ross wrote it his way, and that's his Right, and his choice.

FWIW. J.B.

Don: If the cover offends you in the least, the content will horrorify you.

So, any TFL'ers going to come clean and admit to "working undercover" at that site?

I think the woman on the cover is Justice. Notice the blinfold and the fallen scale on the ground.

Not to nitpick - But it is Justice that is about to raped at gunpoint by the Feds while the Declaration of Independence burns in the background.

I think the cover is one of the most appropriate I have ever seen in light of the contents on the book.

Thank you, Jordan.

I have to admit that as I reflected upon the posts from Cindy it didn't feel quite right. And now you have confirmed it for me.

I have to wonder if Dr. Bart is a plant as well... don't know.

Anyway, I am looking forward to a reply from Sleeping Beauty, assuming, of course, that she's for real... :D

John's model... If I recall correctly, he attempted to find one that was relatively anatomically correct to stand in for the statue...

I think he did his searching in the Sauget, Illinois area.

Great book.

I was there right before I came on TFL. I know CINDY CASWELL was a good girl. I posted and said that the gun-culture was an "Unintended Consequence" of the American experiment.

Calm down John/az2, she's (probably he's) just PLAYING the part of village idiot.

I just wanted let you folks know that a good, logical argument tends to work on these types.

Someone posted some emotional, anti-gun blather on that board and I countered it with facts. She then proceeded to attack me personally in a perfect example of an 'ad hominem' fallacy. When I pointed it out to her and challenged her to argue intelligently, she shut up.

BTW: I DON'T think that this Cindy person is just playing. I think that these anti-gun folks are dealy serious, albiet over-emotional and logically inept.

I was watching this board right after it was put up by SA MMM.

It seems to be dying out as the MMM’s do not post much there any more, only a few “nut cases” like the ever amusing “Dr (barf) Bart” (Guns are evil, Gun people go away).

I started posting there again, a few days ago, and it looks like Bart says that he has given up (yea right).

For some unknown reason he has assumed that I am the opposite sex than what I have always been. Another mistake, among the others, he has made.

Coinn, we rarely disagree but this will have to be one of those times. It would have been easy to depict the "rape of justice" without having justice be a buxom blonde with breasts bared (say that five times fast.) I was not saying that I am offended by the sight of a woman's breast, only that I think it's insulting to be pandered to that way. That's what I'd expect of a Hustler feature on the Constitution. It just makes it difficult to take the book seriously.

I'm not offended by money, in fact I like it, but I would be offended if someone offered me a bribe....

If I recall correctly, the BIQ (babe in question) isn't bared, but draped...

Darn fine book. All of it.

Don, any civilization can be run with only two regulations.
1; Do not offend anyone else, UNNECESSARILY.
2; Don't BE offended too easily.

Number two is the most important and by far, the most violated.
I guess you can't walk past a single courthouse in the East without covering your childrens eyes. And I guess you can't visit any museum of great religious art. Remember, the first thing Adam and Eve did wrong, that tipped God off about the forbidden fruit, was show SHAME at their nudity.
