Some .38 Super Questions-Please Help!

A Kimber Series II safety question and a .38 Super magazine question

I am seriously interested in a new offering by Kimber. It is the Pro Carry HD II in .38 Super. I have the Pro Carry SLE in .45 ACP already. Basically the same gun. Quasi Commander sized...all stainless steel construction.

1) I have a question about the Type II safety on the "II" models. All three of my Kimbers are the original style. I am not saying that I have a problem with the "II" safety, but if I did, can it be reversed to the pre "II" configuration. If so, describe the process, difficulty level, and cost involved. I don't want to discuss whether you like the II safety or not...only the conversion possibility.

2) I love Wilson Combat magazines for my .45s but I notice that Wilson does not have a .38 Super mag currently on their website. They do sell a 10 round retrofit spring/follower kit but no complete mag. What are my options for excellent quality, perfectly reliable mags if I buy a Kimber .38 Super.

Thanks in advance for all help and replies.

I don't have a Kimber, but I think the II is like the Series 80 Colt design to an extent. It won't cost you anything to convert because you just remove a few parts from the gun like the pasive firing pin restraint and the trigger activated lever that depresses it. (Some will argue this is a bad idea because you are removing a safety from the gun. If you were to use the gun to defend yourself the argument is that a lawyer will argue that you have made the gun "more dangerous" by removing the safety system.)

I changed the subject line on this thread with hopes to get more responses. Please guys, I could use your knowledge and opinions on this.

And thanks Blades67. I know the Colt and the Kimber are both firing pin locks, but the Kimber uses the grip safety to deactivate it and the Colt uses the trigger to deactivate it. I don't care about the liabilities involved.

And, I may not even remove it, but I do want to know if it is possible, feasible, and affordable to do it, should I decide to do so. I would like a detailed explanation on what is required for removal/deactivation of the Kimber series II system.

Don't forget the .38 Super magazine question from the first post.

Thanks guys for input.

Chip McCormick offers 10 round .38 mags. I use them in my SA 9mm with very good results.

available at pretty good price from cdnn

I once asked the kimber guys about detail stripping the slide of a II as I was having issues with my Ultra Eclipse. They were of course very cryptic about the whole matter. They were helpful enough with the frame though. I would assume that it would be simple enough to remove the safety but have no first hand knowledge.

I found some .38 Super mags by Metalform. Anybody know anything about these?

Come on...Anybody out there???

Series II info????

.38 Super mag info???

Chip McCormick makes a pretty good 10 round super mag..metalforms are pretty good too..

Every now and then..you will find people selling there Wilson mags..they are very nice and you can get a nice low profile steel pad to go with..
There are five for auction on EBAY now..I have a bid on them..but do not really need them as I have a dozen already..

You can also use the Colt 9 round mag or the Colt 9x23 mag..if you want 10 rounds fit the McCormick follower and spring or the Wilson follower and spring to them..

And I don't know anything about the Kimber series 2 guns..
