Sold S&W 38 Special today, was it a mistake

I had 2 38 specials, didn't really see need for 2 of the same gun. The gun I sold was a snubnose Mod 36 (chiefs special). Made 1962-1965. Standard wood grips. Real clean gun. But I sold it for $150.

Was that about right or was it not enough and i got raped. The gun I kept though was a MOD 49 snubnose s&w 38 special with stag grips and a concealed hammer (hammerless) Don't know about on the weights of the guns. But my hammerless one was good bit lighter than the chiefs special.

You practically gave that revolver away. If it was indeed in good to excellent condition and 40 years old you could have got double that price easily.
The buyer should have been kind enough to kiss you on the cheek for that one.
Let me know that next time you decide to sell your firearms.

So what is wrong with a spare?

I would have kept it as a spare or backup if I only could get 150 for it, assuming it was functional and good condx. I now often hold onto a gun if I think there may be a future need, if you are gonna just lose your shirt on it and don't really need the money for somethng else. Consider what it will cost you if you decide you need an extra for CCW and want to get another like it?!
What if another family member needs a loaner if there is a threat of some kind like a wave of break-ins? What do you use if your main 38 needs to go out for work? You don't need an arsenal but it is a nice thing to have an extra of anything that might save your ass, like a smoke detector, fire ext.,
communications, etc. And don't forget the NY reload-shoot first gun empty, then start with another!

Any Time You Sell A Good Gun It Is A Mistake!!!

Why in the world would you do that?? It wasn't eating any hay and didn't cost you a thing. Then you blithly sally forth and give the damn thing away!!!
If you were my kid I'd put a 10D Nocona boot squarely upon your butt hard enough it'd jar your fillings.
GEEEEESH....

.38 Special

When you go to sell the other one, post it to THIS forum and give some of us the chance to give it a good home. The upside of all this is that now you can appease your guilt by giving a home to another .38 down the pike. Hey, half the fun is trying to find what you want anyway. Don't sell any more old blue Smiths except here! Best wishes!

You know you sold one for too little when the guy calmly hands you the money, shakes your hand with a big smile. . . . .and RUNS LIKE HELL.

I have always regreted the sale of any of my handguns.
I sold about 5 in my lifetime and regretted everyone.
I just came under to the conclusion to stop selling any hand gun. :)

38special

Isold my Taurus 38,in satin nickle w/pachmeyer grips (which i replaced w/
Taurus grips from a 357). Would've been nice to keep it ,BUT, i made $70 on it and bought a like new CZ40b for less than I sold the Taurus. The CZ feels like a 1911 but has the simplicity and guts of a CZ75. :D
