80% w/holster wear. Early 80s.

Was $300 fare? I wonder what they were going for back then.

I put it in the paper and 5 people called to buy it. Sold in minutes.

I didn't think it was worth any more but it was tight.

What do you think?

Probably about right for an 80% gun.

Pristine M37 Airweights are changing hands for $500+ these days.

I can't speak to your area, but I think you probably gave somebody a good deal. I typically see the more modern j frame airweights (638,642, etc) in my area for $350. I would think a Model 37 would sell around here for closer to $400.

That said, I know even a change of 100 miles can really skew firearm demand, so YMMV.

I'm in Laramie, WY. I paid $100 for it in a trade.

I just didn't need the gun, and Laramie isn't a high income area.

What made me think, the guy that bought it barely looked at the gun, and whipped out the cash. LOL It just made me wonder. Thanks

I looked at some completed auctions on gunbroker, and I couldn't find any for under $300- and that doesn't include shipping or transfer fees. Most of the ones I looked at were $400 plus winning bids.

It might just be me but, if I'm offered a Snub J-Frame in good condition for $300 I would probobly buy it. I'm addicted to Snubs.

I'm not big on snubs, but I would never sell my S&W 638 Bodyguard or my Ruger SP101 3". In fact my 638 is my carry/pocket gun.

In the end . . . whether the buyer got a good deal . . . or you came out ahead . . . if you're happy with the deal that's all that matters! :)

My take is you probably did ok, though I also think there is a place to keep a revolver(s) around.

They are not main go to guns these days, but I keep an old 44 spcl handy in an odd but easy to reach place. Better the 5 shot in the hand than the 15 shot at the other end of the house! (your situation may not allow that, mine does safely).

For the future,
On the other hand I always look at what I think things go for and add 50% or sometimes 100%. You can always talk down, once you have listed your price you usually can't go up.

With holster low wear I would have gone $350 as I am shopping a gun like that for a friend. Seems like you were close enough though.

actually the old guy low bald me to $250. Another old guy showed up to my home, he didn't even look at the gun and said I'll give you $300. What does that tell you? They knew each other by name.

I told the 2nd old guy I maid a (verbal) deal for $250. The 1st guy gave me $300 anyways. THATS COOOOOOOOLLLL!!!!!

What does that tell you?

I did give him a few extra rounds of +p.38s weeks before which I don't remember, I was drunk.

I maid the deal but he whip out anther $50
