SOG's Argentine HPs

had one...Mine was an early contract FN that had been refurbed by Fabrique Militaire....was marked "buenos Aires security forces"...all matching S.N.'s even on the mags,... BUT...
1)the trigger pin constantly walked out.
2)the springs had to be replaced.
3)the "pimple" of a front sight was horrible
4)the signature commander hammer bite would make you want to throw it instead of shoot it.
5)stovepiped every now and then.

The best thing that gun had was a deep almost charcoal blueing job.

Sold it and bought a Modern Hi-Power. Never looked back

I checked over at SOG and didn't see any?

I have an Argy FM hi Power, one of the older ones and I've been perfectly happy with the weapon. Did a feed ramp polish so it would do better with hollow point and it works like a dream. After the initial break in I have had zero problems in the last 500 rounds.

There is a review Cruffler.com has of them

Redlg155,

They were not listed on the website, but in their monthly flyer. They were originally listed as C&R, but that lasted about 7 days. Had to return mine once it was determined that they weren't after all. Too bad, I kind of liked it. It was going to become a project gun.

Picked up 3 17 round mags that I'll hold on to until I get another... someday.

I have one of the Argentinian police-surplus Hi-Powers....picked it up third-hand at a local gunshop a few years back for a song (~$200). The blueing was gorgeous, it has the Argentinian crest atop the rear slide, it's dated 1962, serial #08xx, wood grips, came with one 13-rounder....matching serial#. It has the internal extractor. NO importers marks at all, so I don't knowe if this is the same pistol mentioned above. Made in Belgium.

This gun has been a dream.....shoots very accurately (although the sights are horribly thin), has only had two FTE, possibly due to the older extractor design. The pins have never walked after I put 1000 rounds through it, and it is rather pretty.

True the hammer bite is an issue if not aware of it.

I'd love to get my hands on another one as a project gun....wasn't aware that they were available again.

All in all a better value, IMHO, than the Arcus or FEG clones.

Is the $329 figure price to dealer, or price to you? IIRC SOG sells only to FFLs, and allows them to mark up as they see fit.

Also (forgive me if I asked this already), Spleenandideal- Dead Can Dance fan, perchance?

Argentinian contract (but Belgian FN-manufactured) Hi-Powers will soon be available (C&R, too) from JLD Enterprises. I've had great success ordering from them in the past (1911's), and their service has been excellent. They are often optimistic about the arrival times of their firearms, however. The Hi-Powers are due in this month.

Coronach~ Yeah, DCD is still one of my favorite acts.
Actually, got the name from Baudelaire's epic poem.
(And yes you did ask once before I believe, but I
forgive you ;) ).

You need to check out this band called "Sigur Rós " from Iceland.
Very very awesome. Check 'em out on audiogalaxy.com. Kinda like Radiohead meets Cocteau twins and Mazzy Star.
