So Whats Your Group Size?

Ok every one, what is your average group size? What gun, ammo (including cal.), distance, and grouping?

Be honest, (read humbled) and lets see how good we really are. I have read many posts where only the group size was given, so don't forget to include the distance. The gun and ammo are immportant as well. Semi-auto's only please. ;)

Very curious to see what some of you are capable of, and the guns. I have heard some of you say that you cut ragged holes in the target. So what kind of gun, and at what distance?

Oh, me first huh? Ok..

3 inch groups, Ruger Mk 2, Federal value pack36 gr. high velocity hollow points, at 25 yards.

2 inch group, Beretta 96 Brigadier, Winchester white box 180 gr. FMJ, at 25 feet. Rapid fire, 10 inch groups. :D

Sorry, forgot calibers :o
Ruger is .22 Long Rifle
Beretta is 40 S&W

either my old Smith & Wesson 5904, in 9MM, OR my new Beretta 8040-F Mini-Cougar in .40 S&W, it's about the same...

1.5" groups at 25 yards... offhand.

with my dad's High Standard Supermatic (.22) I am capable of aboit a 1.5" group at 50 yards, from a bench! and easily 1" groups at 25 yards offhand... both with Remington Standard Velocity .22 target ammo...

my Dan Wessons (1 in .357, and the other in .44) with quality ammo are 2.5" groups at 50 yards, offhand...

all this is a rough average... SOME days I seem to do ALOT better, but then some I seem to SUCK... who knows why...

Browning Buckmark Standard with BSA red dot:
1" @ 25 yds, with Winchester Dynapoints

S&W 422 4 1/2"
3-4" @ 25 yds no matter what I try

Both shot from a rest.
I think the 422 is capable of better accuracy, I just wish I could find the ammo that will do it.

BTW: A shooter that can manage 1 1/2" offhand would win every match at our club.

Group Size?

M1911A1, circa 1969, Vietnamese made, total rust bucket , off handed, one hand tied around my neck, blindfolded, facing 180 out, using mirror I can't see, rusty GI ball ammo left over from skirmish in Ia Drang, 3cm @25 yards. Would be better if I could use my free hand, instead of my foot.:p

With an HK USP 45F, using Sellier & Bellot (spelling??), at 15 yards,......... 1". I've only done it once and that was at my last range session. I'm going back this weekend to try again. I've found that for me with that gun (and a Hoque sleeve), I have the best control of any gun I've ever tried, and the sights are the best I've come across for stock sights.

I'm relatively new to handgunning, so I have a newbie-ish question: When they say a group size, say 2" at 25 yards, is that a circle 2 inches in diameter, or a circle of radius 2"?

It'd the DIAMETER of a circle drawn AROUND the "group" ...

the circle needs to be UNBROKEN by the holes in the target...

If I can hold them all (25 shots per target) inside the 4" black at 50 feet with a Kimber .45 that's doing good. Occasionally I'll get a nice ragged hole about 1.5" to 2", but then choke on the last mag.

Remember though, group size is of no real-world importance.

Its fun to see what can be done with a gun under controlled circumstances, but is an otherwise academic endeavor.

Hi-Point Group

Well let me join this one. Much better now since I have over 5000 rnds in each one.
Hi-Point 9mm Compensator....8rnds....3 1/2" at 50'
Hi-Point JC40....40S&W....8rnds........3 1/2" at 50'
Using Winchester white box FMJ..9mm/115gr.....40S&W/180gr
Defense stance, two hands, slow fire

Center to center.... Guess I will have to go try again and messure right this time! I'm somwhat new to handguns, well centerfire anyway.... And .22's are so small, I just measured from outside edge to outside edge.

Results will me posted by Sunday or Monday. Last half of the week is very busy for me. Should be interesting....

Thats it? No one else want to admit to your real group size!? :p :D

I am not interested in group size, but in speed. I can put 6 shots in a 6 inch target, in under 6 seconds from 10 meters, from a holster, with a stock weapon (G17 or HK/USP45).

S&W 686p- got 7 rounds of .357 in one ragged hole at 21 feet. About 1" total from outside edge

Glock35, 40sw, got 6rounds out rapid fire, in a 1.5"group@21feet. I practice rapid fire alot with her.

Glock 26... 3-4" at 15 yds.
Glock 30... 1.5-2.5 at 15 yds.
Beretta M9... 3" at 15yds.
Beretta 96FS Inox... 2.5-3.5" at 15 yds.

Don't know what to expect from my new Ruger Mark II, but from previous experience I am certain it will be around "minute of empty shotgun hull" at 25 yds.

Here is a pic from about 2 months ago while adjusting the new rear sight.

Pistol: SS Kimber Target
Distance: 25 yards
Ammo: My handloads
Group: 1.25", 0.9" and 0.9" for 5 shots

I have to admit that this is not typical for me. 1.5" at 25 yards is more typical.

taco,
Awesome targets.

The middle one looks like a slanted T. LOL! (tryin to write your name?):D The one on the right looks like a little guy holding a bowling ball :)

Make that 2 inch groups at 50 feet with my MkII. That first fig was wrong. It said I had better groups with my Beretta! I should have caught the typo.....

I am working on 1 inch groups at 50 feet. I had two fly aways the other day that took my size up to 2".
