OK so I don't want to rub this in but I have $1500 coming back from the government, how i don't know. Long of the short is I have it and its all going to buy some guns-

I am going to get some Dawson sights for the XDM I shoot USPSA with and then a cheap HD shotgun- both together around $500.

That will leave me with $1000 or so left so what do you all think I should get- Most of my pistols are 9mm and 45 so would like to stick there as I am set up for reloading those and several AR15's in 223

On my short list was possibly a Rem 700 or another 1911- but really cant decide-

Someone sell me on what I should get!

I find the smeagle approach works well.

Walk into the gun store and look at the options and see which one calls to us. One or two normally will.

I think that you should focus on what it is that you find to be deficient with any of the guns in your current arsenal.
If there's something about a gun that you think could be improved upon, then look toward an upgrade that would solve the problem.
Maybe it's the size of the gun, barrel length, sights or its accuracy.
If you end up going for another model then try to find a gun with features that will make up for it.
Or if you're not happy with the quality of your ammo, then look for a reloading upgrade that will provide a solution for it.
If there's no complaints about anything and nothing is lacking, then I guess that you're going to need to keep looking for what it is that you're really yearning for.
There's always something new on the drawing board that's not quite ready for production yet.
A nice carbine or upper in .45 or another caliber is always tempting.
Any interest at all in the subsonic .300 Whisper paired up with a silencer?
It's currently one of the hottest AR combinations on the market! :)

Lever action 45-70. Ive never had one but theyve been intriguing me lately and it seems like were into the same kind of stuff. If i had a 1000 to blow, Id look into it at least. Just a thought.

I like that visual. "Precioussssss." :) That's pretty close to how I made my last purchase. And it reminds me of my buddy's misbehaving .22 pistol:

"It likeses us but hateses the ammo."

"It doesn't likeses us - it wantses the Precious."

"The AutoMatch?"

"We keep the Precious!"

:D

A quality AR upper in a different caliber plus mags and ammo.

Or a Dan Wesson 1911.

But wait those are my wants. :)

1960's / Late 50's Colt Python - best condition you can find. If you don't buy one, then don't blame me when you want one and they are going for $3,000.

I don't know about the other gun (maybe a pretty Beretta like an Inox Cheetah with wood grips?), but as for the home defense shotgun, you should totally get a Remington 870 Marine Magnum.

About $600 for a stainless version of the most reliable pump action in the land? Heck yeah!

The problem ariaes when the cost of those that call to us is more than i have.

My LGS has a DW valor that I want but the CFO called to us more.

With today's economy why not something that will appreciate in value over the years. Yes some guns will do that but gold, silver and precious metals may be better. I know they are not as enjoyable but who knows what tomorrows economy will bring. If not this then maybe a good deal of ammo for the guns you already have.

What I am hearing is that I should buy a gold gun:D

I am reading you all loud and clear on the 870- that was the plan.

Hand me a refund, and I'd call my financial advisor, and take a close look at SWHC.

(I'm not a financial advisor, and this is not financial advise)

Im kinda on the same boat. I was gonna post a similar question and found your post...lol. If your in a supressor legal state and dont have one, it might be something you will enjoy. Im waiting on two to get approved. I was thinking about building a 300 blkout sbr. Do you reload? Gold and Silver have kept a pretty steady price lately, if it was 2008 thats where i would put the money. I think brass and lead (as in ammo), would be better than gold and silver. Good Luck.

Price of hay is also high. Cows eat to much....lol

I'd probably spend a little for fun like you're planning and with the extra $1000 I'd first pay off debt (if you have any), or else save it like suggested. I'd not invest it unless you already have a huge savings. Rainy days, and all...

I know, paid 65 per lrg round of orchard/alfalfa mix was 1500 lbs. Corn is 6.50 a bushel too....

Maybe a box of ammo is in the cards for the gent :)
