So How Do you Feel When...?

So how do you feel when you are used to carrying, and have to go out without your pistol? After carrying pretty much daily since 1984 (5"-1911) I went without my pistol and I felt uncomfortable. Not, Oh I might get beat up or robbed uncomfortable, more like, I lost my keys or wallet uncomfortable. That nagging feeling that says hey, your forgot something.

And you?

The days I don't are the days I get a nagging feeling in the back of my tiny little brain that something bad will happen... and I won't be in a position to stop it.

Yes. Sometimes I'll put my hand on my pocket thinking I dropped it somewhere. Feels just like I'm missing my wallet.

Feels like something is missing. Then I find that is really missing. We have so many buildings that won't let you carry, thieves stake them out and break into the vehicles to rip off the guns.

Out and about without a gun?

Fortunately, I rarely have to do so these days. On those occasions that I do, I feel like something is out of synch and not quite right.

I have jury duty coming up in a few weeks and, needless to say, I'm not looking forward to walking around downtown unarmed. Because of the "I lost my keys or wallet uncomfortable" and the "I might get beat up or robbed uncomfortable".

I have figured out a way, or a means, to carry just about any and every time my carcass heads out the driveway.

I may have to leave it in the Jeep as I visit one of the few gun free zones I have to attend, . . . but I'm re-armed within seconds of re-entering said Jeep.

I came back from Nam the last time in '68, . . . and until I finally got my CCW, . . . I just kinda felt half naked.

May sound stupid to some, . . . but it seemed that my old 1st class Gunner's Mate should have stepped around the corner of a building in downtown Columbus, Ohio and hollered at me for not having my weapon.

Anyway, . . . if Gunner is watching, . . . or listening, . . . "I've got it !"

May God bless,
Dwight
