Snubbie question

i currently have a smith 642 i carry everywhere, it's light and small. i forget i have it sometimes.

i would like a little more punch though. i started kicking around the idea of a similiar model in .44

my concern is recoil, weight and size. does anybody carry a .44 snubbie and how does it compare to a .38 snub?

comments/suggestions welcome.

The 44s are going to be heavier and bigger - not a pocket gun any more. If your really just interested in more punch, than a .357 J frame is the obvious choice.

Friend of mine carries M296 as a bug. Shoots .44 specs out of it. Decent piece and throws heavy slug.

Key to carrying is good holster and belt. Buy belt from same people where you get holster.

I carried M638 as bug in Milt Sparks Summer Special behind my mags. Don't see why a .44 bug would not be carried there as well.

Don't forget to shoot your revolver/ammo at night!

I often carry a .44 BUG.

Carryability and concealibility are matters of holster, belt and clothing. They all form the weapons platform package.

I carry pocket guns in pocket holsters. Stable gun orientation and keeps nelphs and other junk out of the works.

The S&W Model 296 is a kick-ass .44 Special snubbie. It's extremely lightweight and offers a substantial throw weight out of such a light frame.

I have a Rossi 720 Covert, which is a bit heavier due to the steel frame. It does, however, have two advantages over the S&W 296...smaller frame (between a J and a K frame in size), and a 3" barrel with a full-length ejector rod.
