snap caps

I'm not a fan of the A-zoom snap caps.
I have 2 for my .308 bolt action, and they do not eject properly. I think this is because the rim on the bottom is thinner than a proper .308 cartridge. real shells eject perfectly though.

However, I have had great success with my tipton snap cap for my .45

But the point of a snap cap is to arrest the forward movement of the firing pin. and the A-zooms do perfectly well for that. just ejection is a problem...

It might not be an issue since the .303 is a rimmed cartridge...

I have one of the A-zoom snap caps for my 303 British that I picked up from Bass-pro several years back, I've haven't had a problem with it as of yet. I can't speak for the others though

The BLUE .22 and other rim fire ones ARE NOT snap caps. Says so right in the packaging. They are made of aluminum and are meant for reloading, or clearing jam procedures. If you use them as snap caps, the firing pin will gouge the aluminum and make them obsolete.

Knock out the primer on a spent case and put in a pencil eraser. Works and cheap. Want to cycle the action? Seat a bullet in the case. Goatwhiskers

When I was in the shooting team in Highschool, on a rainy day, we'd practice in the library, just dry firing our .22's. We'd grab a handful of spent cases, and dry fire on those. Seemed to work just fine

I was thinking about using spent 22 cases but did not know what would happen to them.

In regards to the 303 I would rather use proper snap caps just because I would be harder to fix if something did happen to go wrong.
