Snap Caps

I'm looking to get some snap caps and am wondering if one brand is superior to another. I couldn't find anything when I searched TFL so please speak up.

I've read that the caps with the brass rim are best. Any input?

I've got both the A-zoom and Pachmyer, and I prefer the A-zoom. They both work just fine, but the plastic Pachmyer ones will sometimes leave plastic shavings in the action. The Aluminum A-zoom ones are slicker and seem to hold up better.

I've had problems with the plastic ones cracking. Not a problem with the aluminum ones. I've switched to all aluminum.

I've heard things about the aluminum caps being out of spec. True at all?
Any experience with the brass ones?

I've used the blue Pachmayr brand and A-Zooms for about a month. One Pachmayr has cracked and the rest seem likely to go that way. The A-Zooms are very solid. No evidence of them being out of spec.

make your own !

resize and punch out the primer and fill the hole with high resistance neoprene or a nylon plug, i have made several for .223 Rem. and many for friends with different calibers.

A-Zoom
the aluminium holds up better and the rubber plug in the primer area cushions the firing pin far far longer before breaking down.

I also use the spring loaded "tipton" brand for dryfire and loading practice with my SxS (for cowboy action shooting).

Pachmayer also makes a "spring and brass butt" type. I have never used them but imagine they'd work well.

p.s. not endorsing the above vendors, they were just the first examples that came up in my search.
