Snake gun

I understand that the colt snake guns have become hot for collectors. I have a colt Python 4 inch in blue that I have had for a long time. Shot a little in excellent condition. How do I find collectors interested.

post it on gunbroker with a starting price similar to the others trying to sell the same gun. it will usually sit for quite a while.

because most sellers are trying to get top dollar, and most collectors already have them, the guy that would like one but isn't a collector cant afford them.... they usually only sell when the price is too good to be true (as compared to current prices).

You may be better going to the Colt forum and list also. I have a customer that buys 3 or 4 snake guns a month so If you PM me I may be able to put you in touch.

Are you really selling it?

I'd be interested if someone really could sell a Python for what they are asking for them.

There certainly is a Colt 'Mystique' surrounding guns like the Python and the Anaconda but is it real or not?

Please continue this thread when you find out.

Really torn about selling it because it is such a fine piece of craftsmanship. May just keep it and wear it since Texas becomes open carry in January.

You can wear it now, just wear your shirt untucked like I do.

I can carry my 4" Colt Lawman, or 4" Smith and Wesson model 19 with no problems that way.

Keep it....you going to regret selling it big time. They do not, nor ever will again , make them like that. And just as soon as it's gone and the money spent, you wont be able to find another you can afford, for blood or money.

Those guns were hand built by craftsmen, hand fitted and tuned...can't build them like that anymore. Labor is too expensive , craftsmen are dying out.

DO NOT SELL IT ! When that gun is gone , you will never get another even close to it ....believe me, I know what I'm talking about !

Thanks Gary. I don't think my wife or grown sons would keep me around if I sold it! As far as carrying with my shirt untucked that would not look very professional in my line of work.

If you really want to sell it I'd go to gunbroker, I'm contemplating selling mine but every time I take it out the safe for pictures I end up putting it back:)

keep it until you really need money, I think they're prices are gonna hold for a while...

I told my wife when I die put my Python in my coffin.
She sad "you can't take it with you....."
............Well, in that case, I'm not going.:D

Wow! I'm glad this isn't going where I thought it was.

Don't sell unless the money will make your life better for a loooong time.:)

If you haven't sold on GunBroker, the easiest approach may be to go through the forums once you have done your homework on pricing/value and decide on a price to sell it. Do you still have the box? That can be important to collectors.

I sold my original Python a number of years ago in order to buy something that I truly wanted to keep. That happened and I never really regretted that decision. I didn't shoot it and it was never particularly a gun that was particularly special in my accumulation.
