Smith & Wesson Model 61 Escort 22lr

I just purchased a S&W Escort. The gun is the typical blued/black gun with brown grips. I'd like anybody who has experience with this gun to share their opinions, praise, gripes, and suggestions about it.

I bought the gun to have fun with, for the most part, and act as a backup if it proves reliable and I get comfortable with it. They only made it from 1970 to 1973 but I know there are a few circulating and more than a few that have been used.

I've had a few, they worked great for me, I'm debating picking up a few as collectables as they are still a bargain for a low production gun..Roy

Had maybe a half dozen when they were being made. None of them worked at all. Bought one used just recently. Works like a charm.

The gun was originally designed for the 25 ACP and switched to 22lr at the last minute. Maybe that's why most of them just don't work.
