I was looking to buy one of these but man are they hard to find in decent shape for a decent price. The blued 6 to 6 1/2 inch ones that is(a la Dirty Harry). Are the pinned barrel/recessed chambers that great? Are they worth it more than the newer non pinn./recessed ones quality wise?
 
Are the P&R revolvers better than the non-pinned models? Yes and No!!! They are more desirable, but are also somewhat weaker too. The M29-3E and up revolvers have the endurance package built into them and are stronger revolvers.
So you get to decide if you want nostalgia with the famed old style craftsmanship or the strength of the newer model.
