i have a friend that wants to trade his ruger gp100 .357 with stainless finish for my smith & wesson m&p 9c. cant make up my mind and just wanted to get some opinions. thanks

Depends. You gonna IWB carry it, or range toys?

Carry, keep the Smith. Range toys? GP all the way.

Grab some buffalo bores for that GP100 and make him want it back :D

I have a 9c, if offered the trade I'd have to think seriously about it. I'd probably trade and upgrade to a 40c later since I have some other 9mm's to fall back on but no 357.

Do you want a revolver? If so, is the GP100 in good shape? How accurate is that particular GP100? If the GP100 was in good shape and accurate, I would take the deal - unless your M&P is an absolute tack driver.

These are really differnet guns. Outside of being both full-size and if well maintained both solid guns, they are pretty much at different ends of the spectrum. Anybody who appreciates revolvers would go for the GP100 I would imagine. But what do you like and what would you conceivably want to use it for? I personally would think the GP100 would be more fun to shoot at the range but also more expensive, especially with the 357s. It's not really a CCW although a full-size M&P isn't either. For me they fill completely different roles.

How long is the barrel on the GP?

S&W NIB sell here for $499.99+tax

I seen used GP100's go for $380-$420. SS or B

I have an M&P9c and I wouldn't make the trade. But then, I have a few revolvers already. If you don't have a revolver and the Ruger appeals to you, then go for it.
