Smith & Wesson laysoff 15% of employees. The boycott is working!

I heard about this on the radio today. A S&W rep. tried to spin it initially, stating that these types of layoffs were "industry wide", but then admitted that the "agreement" was having a compounding effect on the slow business cycle.

I'll miss their quality products, but I hope they sink soon.

Smith & Wesson cites sales lag, boycott for cutting work force

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Smith & Wesson is cutting about 15 percent of its work force, blaming slumping sales and a boycott by buyers angry over its gun-safety deal with the government.

The company said Thursday about 125 workers, including some managers, would be laid off within the next week at the company's Sprinfeild, Mass., plant.

"One of the frustrating things for us is that some of the damage has been done by the pro-gun side. Some of the workers here are members of these pro-gun organizations," said Ken Jorgensen, a Smith & Wesson spokesman.

Translation: "We made a deal with the devil, and we expected you to all follow along like good little sheep. Now you made us fire a bunch of your fellow NRA members. Aren't you ashamed of yourselves?"

In a word, NO!

It's unfortunate that workers will lose their jobs, but I, for one, refuse to comply with S&W's government sanctioned backdoor gun control. Unless this policy is reversed, I will never again buy anything with their logo on it.

Perhaps these workers can look upon this as their opportunity to flee the hostile climate of "Taxachusetts".
