Smith & Wesson Customer Service

I have a 3" Model 65 that I carry often. One day when I took it off I noticed the thumb piece was just plain gone. I went to Brownell's and caefully looked at the whole catalogue, which listed the thumbpiece. I did not see anything about the retaining screw, so figured that was part of the package. I order the thumbpiece (and it came in 2 days, really fast shipping) but without the screw.
I called Smith this morning and it was no problem, they will ship the screw out today. And I have had similar experience with them in the past. SIG as well.
Paraordnance, otoh, was a different beast. When I lost a grip screw they told me I had to order it through Brownell's, they wouldnt ship me one.

S&W service

I wanted a higher front sight for my S&W 9mm, Customer service gave me accurate specifications and fast service. I was very pleased with them.

I've only had customer service with two brands of firearms.
S&W which was fast (twice), friendly, knowledgable and professional. Grade A
Ruger which was very slow to repair and return. Also rude. Grade D
I've kept my two Ruger handguns, but cannot buy another due to that negative experience with customer service.

It is funny how customer service is one of those things you think you will never need so dont value it much. But if you do need it is worth its weight in gold.
