My dad recently bought this gun and we would like to know the value considering when he bought it he had no idea it was a special edition CRPD. Any info about this gun would be great. Thanks in advance!

Ill post pics later but it has wood grain grips and its stainless steal. It is in brand new condition with no scratches or worn spots. From the info I've gathered it was made in 1989 and there were under 500 produced.

According to SCSW, the gun was indeed produced in 1989 and there were approximately 465 of them made. The "CRPD" stamp indicates the guns were made for the Conrail Police Department. The book doesn't indicate that these guns have greater value than the general run of 681s (which I would place at somewhere around $500 to $600, perhaps a bit more, in the condition you describe), but to the right collector I suppose it could be worth a premium.
