I have had this pistol for about 15 years now and it has always treated me well. Recently I have been having ejection problems with it. The empty cartridge remains in the barrel as it tries to load another round. I have to clear the new cartridge, leaving the action open and put the safety on, remove the magazine and then proceed too close and open the action several times till the empty cartridge comes out. I use factory reloads as I always have since I have purchased the firearm. Any suggestions?
Thank You

It sounds like an extractor or extractor spring problem. These parts may be wearing out or you may have some crud built up under the extractor hook.

Our department traded in our supply of 5904 for P-97 about six months ago due to cost of small parts replacement on the 5904s. the department has had the 5904 since about 1988
