Hello, My name is Wallace Bettes New to The Firing Line.

i bought a smith & wesson, model 60-9 cbk7575, on the but of the gun
the sn#7575

the gun looks like a nickel finish about a 2" barrel and 3 ported holes on
top of the barrel.

the gun is in MINT COND can anyone help:confused:

sorry about that, is there any value to the gun? and what up with the port holes?

Mentions 3" and ~"2" magna ported.
Actual "mag-na-porting" is done by Magnaport, not S&W.
S&W has offered special run guns for distributors (such as Magnaport) that applied their own porting to them.
While I could be wrong, the only ported barrels I've seen done by S&W are the single large port cut into the top, front of the barrel. And, of course, the screw-on compensators on the X-frames

The holes on the top of the barrel are to decrease muzzle rise as you shoot due to the divertied escaping gasses.

Really? Where did I type that S&W ported it?

The "ed" suffix belonged to a poster from the referenced thread.

I simply referenced an old thread; I made no mention of Smith doing "magna porting" or "mag-na-porting" or any porting. I saw what appeared to be reference to a gun that seemed similar to the gun he was describing.

The thread mentioned a 3" barreled and a "2" barrelled (sic?) mag-na-ported", as well as a 2 1/8". Thus, my ambiguous post. I simply know little about the physics of porting a barrel nor who does it.

The OP pm'd me a question about my comment on the porting being aftermarket so I mearly used your statement to elaborate the point.
Didn't realize you would be offended...
