I am looking for my grandfather's Smith & Wesson 14-2, 4" barrel s/n: k623367 and Smith & Wesson 19-3, 2.5" s/n: 5K12947, they were sold within the past 2 years after he passed. Has anyone ever tried to find a family firearm and been successful? Should I just give up?
Interesting. The 4" barrel caught my eye because I thought all Model 14s were 6", with a few 8-3/8" out there as well. According to SCSW, there were (only) 1,040 made in 1965 with the 4" barrel in the sn range K623337 to K624496. Looks like grandad had one of a very limited production run.
Good luck finding it, I'm sure it won't be easy if it's even possible. You could try posting at the S&W Forum, but almost anything you do will be a real long shot. If you do happen to find it be sure to buy a Megabucks ticket that day.
If you have the serial numbers, because of the short period of time that has passed there is a remote possibility, no serial numbers, sorry, you have zero to no chance to find them. But hey, anything is possible, people do win the lottery
Thank you all for the reply. I have the original boxes for both guns with the serial numbers and other specs written on the side by the dealer. I also have the original holsters issued to my grandfather from the Roseville Police Department in Detroit Michigan.
They were sold to a dealer somewhere in East Michigan, North of Detroit, but that is about all I know.
If anyone else has had experience in this area I certainly will appreciate the help, thanks again.
