Smith orphans, part VII: Model 36, 3" HB

I don't know what it is about old Smith wheelguns that leaves me incapable of saying "no". Here's the one I picked up today, a Model 36 with a 3" pinned heavy barrel and square butt. According to the SN, it was made in 1979, and it's in flawless condition.

This one's number 7 in a growing collection of fine *&* revolvers, none of which is younger than 10 years.

Three-inch J-frames are a personal favorite. Congrats! :D

BTW, the price at the local gunshop in my area would have been $100 more.

I had one of those for awhile, but it was a nickle square butt.

I just couldn't get past the nickle finish, and a friend's father was looking for a gun, so I sold it to him.

Nice,i owned one a few years ago and really
enjoyed it,i should have kept it as i have
not found another one:(

Standard duty gun for females in the NYPD until 1974.

The Equipment Section sold them for $65. I believe they were round butt only. It also was authorized for off duty use.

I own one just like yours except that it is a 2" square butt, which my Father left me. I saw a nickle one today with a square butt, our city attorney had it in his office and was thinking about buying it from one of his secretarys. The square butts were not as popular as the round butts, which I also prefer. I currently own three model 36's, one model 37 and one model 60 and a brand new blue Colt Cobra.
