Christmas is just around the corner and I've been busy with some leather work for friends and family:
4 OWB holsters for an equal number of Smith Shields
Another OWB for a Glock 19, and one for a Smith M28
Plus a cpl of knife sheaths
This last one, pictured, is for my own Smith M19 & M66. Gotta say, my fingers are sore after all this...all are double needle & awl stitched...(only stuck myself once, but it was to the bone) and I used 9 oz. tooling leather for the outer shell, with vegetable tanned pig skin for the linings.
This is my favorite configuration...OWB, with a slight forward tilt to accomodate the old FBI - 4 o'clock carry. After 50+ years of carrying there, I doubt my hand could go anywhere else.
I line them to minimize wear on gun finishes, locate the belt loop for a 1-1/2" gun belt, and burnish all edges with an antler tip. Lastly, I've got a stamp set to mark the inner face with gun type, our name and the date it was made. There's a lot of satisfaction building one...and it's a pass down to my sons, DIL's and friends that means something to them.
Just an old man's meanderings here...and I hope you all have a Merry Christmas and an "accurate" new year. Best Regards, Rod
