Smith Enterprises base for Rem 700 LTR?

Hello All,

This is my very first post here and have nothing but praise for the fine folks at TFL. Such a vast wealth of information to tap into--wish I had known about it long ago.

Just acquired my 2nd bolt action rifle, a Remington 700P LTR, and considering the economical Smith Enterprises weaver base, as seen in the Brownell's catalog for $65. I do not plan on shooting targets (paper) greater than 100 yards, and steel targets no greater than 450 yards. Not looking for the highest end base (i.e. Badger Ordnance), but do not want a substandard one either. Will the Smith Enterprises weaver base suffice? Tried a search for this base, but to no avail. Your input would be greatly appreciated.

Much Thanks!

JSR75 I have a long range base, same base but angled forward to give extra elevation, I bought from Smith for my 700P 300WM. It's very well made and definately worth the cost. Get it, you will be happy.

You won't be disappointed

The smith base is on par with the badger base without the name. Get a good set of rings as well and you'll have a combo to take you out to 600 + yards.

Dope it , Dial it , Drop it.

I ordered the Smith two piece bases directly from them in Phoenix. Price was roughly $35 + shipping so I would find their number and save yourself some money. I agree with others here in that they are well made and worth the money($35 anyway).

Thank You

Thank you all for the feedback. I'm glad to hear that all so far agree with this base. Looking forward to lighting her up and breaking her in.

Kind Regards,
