I like my Model 10 so much that I want to get its stainless sister, the Model 64. What should I expect to pay for one in 80-85% condition? Having the box is not an issue for me as I would keep both in a 2 handgun case.

I got one from JGSALES.com last year. Paid less than $300 for it, it's a beautiful gun. I spent another 30 bucks for a SA/DA hammer and installed it myself, even though there was nothing really wrong with the bobbed DAO hammer that was in it. They have both round butt and square butt. This Model 64 has become my favorite 38 Special out of all that I own.

Trey, what mold is that? Looks like a Lyman 358477 (my favorite bullet)

I think I paid $325 for my '64 at a local gun store. With all the shipping, FFL fees its about the same price as you'd get from mail order, only I got to fondle the gun before I bought it.

Turned out to be my primary competition gun.

It came with the original SA/DA trigger but I seldom use the DA.

You wont go wrong with the '64, that's for sure.

Kraig you have a keen eye there, that's exactly what that mould is, a Lyman 358477 and it's one of my favorites for 38 Special as well. My H&G 50 probably gets more use though.

im going to look into those 64s from J and G sales, looks like theyre about an hour north of me. maybe ill take a ride this weekend. what would it take to convert it from DAO back to DA/SA? Just change out the hammer or is there other parts that need to be replaced?
