Smith and Wesson model 29-4?s

I just recently inherited a S&W model 29-4. Is this the infamous "Dirty Harry" 44 mag? Also, I would prefer rubber grips;are they availiable?

Yes, the Model 29 is what Dirty Harry carried. And, yes, rubber grips are available.

PS - You might want to start out shooting .44 Specials in it and then work up to Magnums.

Yes, Doc., all the major factories sell rubber
grips. Head to a large gun store in your area and
try 'em out. I'm sure you'll find ones that will
fit. If you don't have much experience with the .44MAG they will help you get used to the recoil.
The 2X4s that S&W put on their later guns like the one you have are a R E A L shame/sham...dewey
