I am interested in the Smith Model 22a. Someone is trying to sell it to me for 210$ with 4 mags. Two questions...

1) Is this a fair price?

2) He says he thinks its pre agreement, is there anyway to confirm this?? Not that I dont trust him but he is not interested in politics ( I try but he is very old and not that well but a nice guy and an honest deaker)

I have a 22S. I'm not sure of the material because it doesn't look like stainless, but it's silver in color (unlike the black 22A). Anyway, I paid 250 for mine new with 2 mags about two years ago. Thus, and I'm assuming the one you're looking at is used, it doesn't sound like all that great of a deal even with the 2 extra mags. Not a bad deal, but not great.

I'd check out http://www.gunbroker.com and http://www.auctionarms.com for a good idea of going prices.

I bought one a couple of years ago. I had a choice between a Ruger Mark II, a Browning Buckmark, and a 22a.

I chose the 22a because of the integral scope rail as I wanted to mount a red dot on it.
Accurate and reliable with anything I feed it. Be sure to clean it fairly regularly, or it will hang up on you.
I paid 189.00 brand new with 2 mags at a local sporting goods store.
I broke mine not too long ago, and recieved good customer service and decent turn around time. Too bad about the deal with the devil, 'cause I believe there are many good employees at S&W.
Hard to tell about the pre-agreement, maybe a serial number list can tell you. I am not too sure how to go about that, though.
