Can you tell me anything about this particular animal? I can't find anything about it online! I hear it's rare...that's about it. And are they worth $550 a piece?
Thanks

Where did you hear it's rare? It's one of several million Model 10s made. The 10-4 merely designates the elimination of the trigger guard screw.

I heard that this particular "dash" was only made for a few month in '62. And it's the internet so I can believe everything I read right?? ;)

I looked in Blue Book and it just says there were 14 engineering changes but it shows no price difference between them.

As far as the price - I passed on a pristine 4" 10-4 a year ago at $350.00. Now, I'd wished I'd picked it up . . . since it's so rare!:roll eyes: Actually, I wished I had picked it up . . not because it's "rate" but it was a great Smith - like new and would make a great shooter.

Not poking fun . . . I'd just be REAL hesitant to pay that price (like I never would) for a 10-4. There are too many Model 10s and M & Ps out there.

But . . . if you heard it on the Internet . . . ;)

The 10-4 is sort of rare. If pristine a collector trying to round out a Model 10 collection would want it. The only difference between the 10-4 and the 10-5 is a slightly thicker front sight. The 10-4 was only made during 1962 but it was a high volume production model. So even though it wasn't made for very long, they made quite a few of them.

$550? I'd pay that if I wanted to have something that not every Tom, Dick and Harry could whip out at the range. If I just wanted a Model 10 shooter I go for a $350 10-5.
