In case anyone is interested. Smith and Wesson is offering a limited run of the Model 27, N-frame .357. These are being built out of the remaining spare parts left over at Smith. They have the original deep blue and oversized wooden target grips, on a Square frame instead of the horrible round one. They are pretty steep at a list price of $670.00. If you want a last chance at a true new model 27, this is it. Isuggest you contact your local Smith dealer, or call Smith and Wesson for details. Even at the outlandish price, they ain't going to last long.

Greetings Hal, I am pleased to see your post
regarding the limited reappearance of the
Smith & Wesson Model 27. However, I just
recently got a great deal on a Smith &
Wesson Model 28 in the 6" barrel length.
This gun has a pinned barrel and recessed
chamber's; features not found on their
product's since 1982. And the great thing
about the deal was the price !!! The gun
was 98%+ with Goncolo Alves Target Grips
for the fantastic sum of $270.00 + S/H.
The total was like $311.75; so looks like
I saved lot's of money. And, I wouldn't
trade it for a crate full of those new
27's that they are just throwing together!!!

I hear you load and clear Ala Dan. I scored a couple of Model 19's,one a 19-3 and the other a 19-4, both pinned and recessed, both never fired, last year for 250 and 265 respectively. There are great bargins out there for the looking. The 27 and the 28 have been on my want list for a long time. I just can't seem to find the right one, for the right price,,,,,yet! As far as these being thrown together, from the one that I saw, they seem to be way above anything Smith has made in years as far as fit and finish. I was told the Performance Center is assembling them. Smith's Performance Center is capeable of putting out some very high quality stuff, and these 27's seem to reflect the best of the best. They may just be worth the asking price if the Performance Center has worked their magic on them. You done good on your 28, no doubt about it. One day I hope to do the same with a 27 or a 28. You just can't beat the older Smiths.

The 27 I bought had the barrel thread bored through the frame at an angle and pointed the shot holes out to the very edge of the target carrier, with max windage adj. It was not stamped with a performance center logo. Very pretty, but worthless. I flogged it at the next gun show.
I should have guessed they were made out of reject parts.
