Smith and Wesson Date

Trying to locate a manufacture date and model # for a Smith and Wesson 38 special. It's # is C 8812.
Any info is appreciated.

Try posting the serial number along with a description of your revolver in the S&W serial number search thread stickied at the top of the forum. Useful info to include in your description would be the frame size (if known), capacity of the cylinder, barrel length, and any other markings on the gun.

It's # is C 8812

It's a .38 Military & Police. Became the model 10 when S&W began assigning model numbers in 1957.
Serial numbers ran from C1 in 1948 to C223998 in 1951. Yours is likely 48, maybe early 49.
