I have a smith and wesson 629 with a 6 inch barell staneless and original wood grips how much is it worth on a trade or to sell out right???

Greetings Mr. White; This is a general rule
of the thumb that I use: "Buy for as little
as possible; and sell for the most you can
get". Depends on the overall condition of the
firearm; as graded on the NRA scale. For
example, a handgun only slightly used would
be graded in the 85 to 98% range; depending
on it's condition of course !!! Mechanical
defects weight more heavily; than say appearance defects, however no one wants an
abused firearm.

In this part of the country (midwest) a used 629 in LNIB condition would go for about $500. One that shows minor wear, but still mechanically okay, would be about $100 less.

Trade in values are kinda like trading in a used car, lots of variables, but in general around 10% less than you could sell it outright.

Good Luck...

Joe

I dont know much about the nra scale but the gun is in great shape cosmetically and all its parts are in great working order...

Here in the Pac NW, a used gun like that (98% or better) is selling for about $400 plus another $50 for the grips. If the gun has some other special feature like a ball finish or factory custom work, add another $50 to $100.
