smith 686+ finish

I recently puchased a smith 686+.I noticed that the brushed stainless finish is far from perfect. It has a scrathcy look to it and I notice imperfections on the cylinder. The cylinder looks like it has pit marks on it.Is this just the quality of the stainless? This marks are not deep but you can see them.Gun was purchased new.Last one had to have it.You Know the story.I am probably being a little anal retentive here BUTT,any comments would be appreciated.Does anyone have one that looks like mine?

My 686 plus sports the same lack of any finishing. I have an old 60's vintage 27-2 which has a beautiful mirror finish and blue job.

I bought the 686+ to kick around when I don't want to blemish the finish on the 27-2.

There just aint no craftsmanship no more.
Polishing and finishing are hand operations, like fitting the recessed cahambers and pinning the barrel, polishing has given way to progress, rough machine finishes.
