Bought a new 617 a year ago. I asked the dealer's gunsmith to do a trigger job and test fire with CCISV, and a variety of other .22 ammo, standard and high velocity.
My confession - Other than running a oily ranging over the outside and inside, I put the gun in the safe thinking I'd sight it in over the weekend. A little surgery laid me low and just took the gun out to the range. After satisfied with the sight-in, I was cleaning the gun and notices the face of the barrel had lead all around the cone. I got a lot of it out with solvent and dental picks, but not 100%.
Was the deposit from the trigger job and would it have hardened over a year? Or because I shot a wide variety of ammo, lots of mixed high and standard velocity of different brands?
I always clean my guns after shooting but I've never seen anything like this.
Suggestions for finishing the cleaning (solvents) and ways to keep it from happening?
