I am thinking of trading my ss Colt Officers ACP (stock) for Smith 1006 NIB (pre-owned, unfired).
Colt looks nice, but jamms all the time on most of the ammo, including FMJ.
Does anybody have any exp. with S&W 1006?
Are they good guns?
Reliability?
Are they designed for full house 10mm loads?

You'll love the 1006

I haven't had a jam yet,its one of the best shooting handguns I've ever owned. I have shot light and heavy loads without a single problem

The 1006 is a descent pistol. I owned on for several years. Once, when firing +P ammo, the firing pin was forced forward and bent. This required factory service. Furthermore, a factory recall on the 1006 was initiated by S&W. The Mainspring Housing (one piece plastic grip) was defective on all 1006s produced. The new grip wasn't arched or contured at all and consequently felt extremely akward, especially when firing hot loads. If you're really intent on purchasing a 10mm, get a Glock or a Colt. Hope this information helps.

Clyinder and Slide should be able to help you with any issues of warranty and/or fine tuning of you S&W. they have turned my 4006 into one of the finest pistols i have ever shot.

u should have no problems with ur 1006. reliable and it should take full house 10mm rounds without a hiccup. i would go to a stronger recoil spring though. other than that, i have had no problems with my 1006. i'm kind of waiting for the S&W adjustable sights to shake loose though...hehe

if u find a 1066, 176 or 1086, get it. it will make a great 4.25" barreled companion to the 5" 1006.
