Liability works both ways. Since S&W and Colt are going to be manufacturing these 'smart' (dumb) guns, if they fail to operate properly and the user is injured or killed as a result of not being able to defend themself with the
inoperative weapon, the manufacturer of that handgun (S&W or Colt) would be totally liable for the injury or death. They are legally responsible for all defects in their products. Also, in Maryland these will be the only handguns legal to sell in that state by 2003 (if the bill passes). Since Maryland legally requires gunowners to use this defective firearm technology, they will also
be liable. I hope thay S&W, Colt and the State of Maryland are all bankrupted by a flurry of lawsuits. Wouldn't that be sweet!? Live by the lawyer, lose your shirt by the lawyer.
