Small revolvers for EDC (Rossi Princess small)

I've been thinking about trying a small .22LR for a BUG. The 7-round cylinders are pretty thin, about 1".

Anyone doing that, thoughts, etc?

There hasn't been an equivalent of the Rossi Princess made since. A tiny D/A revolver in .22 lr and/or .32 acp would sell like crazy.
The Princess was a great idea-very poorly executed.

Ive said that many times on here and even made a thread about it, if I remember correctly the majority responses were saying that there was no point and there would not be enough demand, and if I want smaller than a J frame go to an I frame (which in itself is barely smaller than a J frame and not the easiest of guns to find.

The trend in guns these days is going towards small easily carried guns, if someone put out something like a scaled down easily pocketable J frame with a 5 shot .32 cylinder along with a separate 7 shot .22 model I think they would sell like hot cakes. I know I would certainly own one and would take over pocket duty. The smallest options are J frame sized snubs, and the next step down are SA NAA mini revolvers, there is nothing on the market to fill the gap between the two which always blew my mind

Again,,, Curse you Bill DeShivs!

Again,,,

Curse you Bill DeShivs!!!!!

I see the Rossi Princess on gunbroker from time to time,,,
I've always managed to forego making a bid.

Now that I see how small they actually are,,,
I think I can make room in my safe for one of those cute little things.

Charter Arms makes just that. 3 different color 5 shot J frame sized 32 H&R Magnum revolvers.

I like that Rossi, but other than the diameter of the cylinder, it doesnt look any smaller than Bills' beautiful Model 60. Im sure it probably is smaller, but at some point, things become too small. I like snubs, and small caliber guns, so I wont say its a dumb idea, but geez, my LCR-22 is small, my Pathfinder 22 is small, my Taurus M327(327 Federal Magnum) is small, and if you need super light, the Aluminum frame and cylinder S&W 2" 317-22 is very light. Charter Arms is making aluminum framed Pathfinders now, and the 32 H&R Magnum revolvers from Charter are also aluminum framed. Charter makes some of the lightest 38 revolvers available(J frame size), the Undercover Lite models weigh 12 oz.

The Charter Arms guns are about the size of the "J" frame S&Ws. They are built around the .38 Special cartridge.
The Rossi is considerably smaller. It's designed around the .22 LR.
There are no revolvers currently offered in a size between the "J" frame and the mini revolvers.

Something made like a modern IJ 1900 or H&R 1906, but with a shrouded hammer and a ramp front sight would be nice, and keep the old style pinned cylinder.

Seven rounds, DA, grippable grip, 1" thick cylinder, and snag resistant. I'd much prefer that to the NAA SA .22s.

I should have put this in the What's Your Dream Revolver thread.

I would love something nearly as small as a NAA mini revolver, but in normal DA layout...

And top break loaded, for my taste...

Edit: AND polymer framed; THAT would be a novelty...

Princess #2 (long barrel) looks a whole lot like the original S&W Lady Smith, pretty sure that's where they got the idea.

I really like the octagon barrels on the IJ's and H&R's.

Rossi did mimic some of the S&W pistols.

I don't know if they did it by simply copying,,,
Or they might have purchased the rights from S&W,,,
But Rossi did make some near duplicates of some S&W revolvers.

Here is a Rossi 511 beside a S&W Model 63,,,

As you can see they are near identical.

I owned a Rossi Princess and quite frankly was not impressed with it. Note I said "owned" - I don't own it any more.

When I used to carry two guns a long time ago I carried a KelTec P32 in my pocket and felt perfectly comfortable with that.

I tried carrying a NAA mini revolver but in my opinion that would be a worse choice. Very difficult to cock and fire - specially with anything but teeny weani little hands :D

If I ever had to carry two guns again and the P32 was not an option then one of the many current light weight 5 shot .38 Specials would be my choice. I own a Taurus Titanium model 85 and absolutely love it. There are many others just as good or better.

Regards,

Rob
