I got back from a few days squirrel hunting in So. Eastern Ohio. All grey squirrels. I used the Marlin 39a, and have some complaints.
That bead sight is a real hindrance on the rifle for that purpose. The big white bead covers up too much of the animal and has no edge for fine shooting. Those beads may be fine, and fast, for larger animals but picking off a squirrels head isn't well suited to them.
I haven't decided on a receiver sight yet, but in any case I need a simple black blade sight, kind of thin. Get rid of that hood and put in a sight on that ramp.
I looked at Brownells online catalog, which I find tedious, nothing. Everything seems to be these goofy fire sights or beads. I sent them an E-Mail, we'll see.
By the way, the squirrel and gravy was great. I always add in a small piece of bacon end and use good pepper.
